let's do a little weekend recap.
we'll start with my flight on friday. i had a sassy business class ticket (thank YOU albert) and sat next to this incredible woman. a breast cancer survivor. she was amazing. told me all about her battle with the disease and encouraged me to go in for an examination. as she said, "you're never to young to start". i could go on and on about her but, i'll probably do it at a later time.
get in to dallas 30 minutes early and as usual, my sister is late picking me up. i wasn't too annoyed because she said she would be there in 20 minutes. i call john (who was getting in around the same time as me but in a far off terminal) and tell him to wait a few and we would be there shortly. 20 minutes turned into 30, 30 turned into 40. finally at 3:40 her sorry ass got to the airport. we jam over to the house and are briefed by my dad on the events of the night.
my uncle shooz (i call him that because he has HUGE feet) had created a little skit to perform when barbara got home. everyone was sent to a bedroom. i think there were about 25 people in each room. the plan was that rachel would open the door and blindfold her. hand her a martini and sit her in a chair facing out the window. then we do this "can you guess who *i* am skit. my voice comes from the kitchen and i say a little blurb, then she guesses it's me. then we go from room to room and barbara only hears the voices. by the time we have represented all the rooms, rachel and i arranged all of her brothers and sisters at the top of the balcony, so that when she took off the blindfold; they were all arranged so that she could see them. she freaked. it was great.
the party was amazing. the food was incredible. the dancing was supreme. everyone had a great time.
saturday we started the morning at oh...7:30. with two little ones in the house it's damn near impossible to sleep past 8. anyway, everyone is hurting. hangovers galore. heh. especially barbara whose quote was "i think i started about 12 drinks and didn't finish one". uh huh. this family likes to drink. my dad and my sister go to get pastries while john and i watch the boys. had a little breakfast and then my dad offered to take john for a ride in THE car. john looked SO happy. it was really cute. admittedly, i was a little scared for the dad and the boyfriend to have some alone time but, i think everything went ok.
a few hours later, the family returns and we head to the little leauge game. i talked about that earlier. then john and i went for lunch and did a little shopping. return to casa de chaos and try and nap. right. no napping. actually, when john did fall asleep, cody attacked him.
after that, we had a little dinner and lots of chocolate cake. then went up to the playroom to watch "bridget jones". john and i both passed out. john snoring in my ear. FUN. luckily, i woke up when the movie ended and dragged john into cody's room to avoid getting in trouble for "sleeping in the same room".
sunday? fun. woke up at 7:30, made breakfast with barbara and prepared for the arrival of the family. had a yummy breakfast, took the family xmas picture, and got ready to go to the second little leauge game.
now on to the fabulous story of the airport. for some reason, i made myself believe that i had booked john and myself departing at the same time. so we rush to the airport, thinking both our flights leave at 3:50. yeah, i was wrong. i had scheduled john to leave at 3:50 and my flight didn't leave til 5:30. i was so incredibly tired that i basically had a tempertantrum at the airport. i thought john was going to beat me i was being SO irrational. all i wanted was to go home and go to bed and now, i had to wait another 5 hours to do so. the two of us waited at john's gate, i watched him get on the plane. straight out of some cheesy movie. the second he started walking down the terminal, i burst into tears. that's the hardest part of our relationship. constant goodbyes.
all in all, we had a fabulous weekend!
