the past few weeks at work have been so nice. but, all good things must come to an end. the not so nice coworker comes back to work on the 2nd. damnNATION.

a few of you have asked what i am doing this evening. well, i will be heading to the lovely town of santa clara to get sloshed with my good friend melanie. mel and i have a new years tradition. two years ago, we dressed up in our prom dresses and watched mtv's new years special. this year? we're chillin with champagne and a bunch of her coworkers. should be a good night. let us keep in mind that i rarely drink, so this should be fun!

meet my new friend craig. i don't mean craaaaiiiig. i mean craig. this dude is friggin HILARIOUS.

it should be illegal to work today.

seriously. this is insane. my phone has not rung ONCE.

i'm hungry. hmm...oatmeal, anyone?

check out meeka's new look. it's awesome.

yesterday sharon and i drove to oaktown to see the royal tenenbaums. it was quite an amusing drive. why? well, because it has been raining for like 5 days straight. and not light rain, HEAVY rain. i hate driving in the motherfucking rain.

anyway, the movie was really good. a little on the odd side, but really funny.

after the movie, i had a nice dinner with my family. i ordered a caesar salad and my nana asked if i was on a diet. heh. geez, has she not noticed that i have lost 100lbs? no, obviously not.

i am really getting bitter that i have to work today. everyone else has the day off. seriously, this is lame. next year, i am taking the time from xmas to new years off. yup. maybe i should put my request in, now.

bored? you should take this test.

Take the Corporate Mascot Test at Willaston's Lounge!

oh, in case i forgot to mention it...robs has her own bliggity blog now. check it, yo. she's got some pretty funny rants on it.

i just got back from shopping. now, i know i said that i wasn't going to shop anymore but lets keep in mind that it's ONLY december 29th. i have 2 more days. anyway, i bought two sweaters for john (wool, yay!) and two for me, as well. they're dope. you all should really go to banana. they're having a HUGE sale. everything is on sale right now.

my eye is still twitching. sharon can vouche for it, she totally saw it wigging out on me last night. not only that, but she told me that she thinks there's something wrong with me since my eye has been twitching for 2 weeks now. maybe there is. maybe i can start sporting a pirates eye patch. that'd be the fucking coolest.

i'm listening to pat green. have you heard of him? he's this little hottie of a country singer from texas. robs and my sister introduced me to him over the summer. he's pretty dope. right now, i am listening to a song called "threadbare gypsy soul". it's a little duet with willie nelson. it's pretty dope, you should check it...mkay?

i think that being a receptionist at a hair salon requires the trait of SNOBINESS. seriously. this chick i just talked to at my hair place was so rude to me.

"yeah, rebecca can do your hair on the 12th but, you have to pay $65 for the haircut and $80 for the up-do."

excuse me mr. officer? that is the most insane thing i have ever heard. i don't even need a FULL updo, just a little something extra. fuck that. i am NOT cheap by any means but i am not paying $145 to have my hair done. that is the most insane thing i have ever heard.

oh, and why does she want to charge me so much? because she leaves at 5 on saturdays, and this appointment will be over after five. fucking.bay.area.snobs.

are you evil?

I am 43% evil.

I could go either way. I have sinned quite a bit but I still have a bit of room for error. My life is a tug of war between good and evil.

Are you evil? find out at Hilowitz.com

ok, so in my attempt to begin to save instead of spend...i did two things this morning.

-filled out the paperwork to start a 401k account. i'm only adding 10% from each check but, i figure something is better than nothing.
-got the paperwork to have part of my check deposited into a savings account.

damn. what am i going to do without shopping? i was actually thinking that i might get a part time job on the weekends waitressing or something. i could totally work at a little breakfast place on saturdays and sundays. i wake up early as it is, so why not make money doing it? most of the places close around 2pm, so then i'd have the rest of the day to play.

wait a second...i tried the waitressing thing once. it didn't work out too well for me. oh well. i am much older and much wiser, now. we'll see what i can do.

ok, let's try it this way! thanks, secret helper :)

try the link, now. if it doesn't work, it sucks my toe.

this picture makes me laugh. ahh...memories. it's from deer creek in 2000. i look so fat. but robs, she looks cute as hell.

yay! blogger is back. i have so much to report. well, not so much but enough to keep you occupied for a few minutes.

not too much happened this weekend. my cookies came out well, thank you for asking.

tuesday i took my grandma to see ocean's 11. it was really cute. nana liked it too. so much in fact, that she fell asleep halfway through. as we were leaving the theater, we ran into my first love. it was so weird. i don't think that i have seen him in almost 3 years. it's weird because we talk and email about once a month but have really lost face to face contact. anyway, he didn't even recognize me. he said hi to my grandma, and looked at me and basically said, "oh shit!" heh. i love it when i get that kind of response from someone i haven't seen in a long time. we caught up briefly and said goodbye. it's weird. for so long he was such a part of my life and now, it's like he's nothing to me anymore. i remember how many tears i shed when things were finally over. what's it they say? the first cut is the deepest? i totally believed that at the time. i guess that i still have a bit of hatred for him since he did cheat on me. but, at least...oh nevermind.

would you like to hear what happened to me this morning while throwing out the garbage? sure you do!

so, i'm downstairs in the "garbage area" breaking down boxes and whatnot. all the sudden, i drop my keys INTO the garbage bin. and. it was FULL. so, i had to put my hands into a FULL garbage can. oh my god. it was so GROSS. needless to say, i scrubbed my hands like i've never scrubbed them before (mom would be proud!). and there you have it.

i realize the more i blog, the more things sound the same. nothing exciting has been happening lately. it's so sad. i read blogs from the very beginning and shit was happening all the time. now, nothing.

last night i was talking to john. earlier in the night, he had some friends over one of which was his brother tim. anyway, tim basically told john that our relationship isn't real and that he can't believe how serious we are when we never see each other. i don't think that john understood how much that hurt me. like a knife through my heart. seriously, my family (for the most part) has been nothing less than supportive. my parents (especially my dad) encourage me to spend as much time with him and do whatever i can to be with him. then, his brother, then his brother, the person who probably knows him best makes a comment like that. it hurt. i know that what john and i have is real. it sucks that some people can't see it the way that others do.

i love lazy days.

i was supposed to get a massage this morning but, the girl isn't due into the salon until 4pm. blech.

so, since i was not going to be getting a massage, i decided that i wanted to bake. at first i thought i would make a lasagne but, i opted for a nice batch of oatmeal raisin cookies. YUM.

i think i'll have a little lunch and watch a wedding story. i miss my days of nothingness. well, not reallly. i just miss tlc daytime.

Sunday, December 23, 2001

song for a winter's night is my favorite winterish song. they just played it on the radio and all the sudden, all these memories of winters past come rushing by.

it's so cool. i love the fact that i hear songs from my past, they relive certain memories for me.

anyway, i bought some new shoes (they're RED) and a new beige v-neck sweater. my shopping obsession really needs to stop. maybe that will be my new years resolution. i will start saving my money instead of spending it all. i'm really serious about it. yup. effective 1/1/02, i will no longer shop obsessively.

cream of wheat is the best breakfast in the entire world. whenever i eat it, it reminds me of my childhood. my nana used to make it for me and my cousins all the time. it was our favorite. i can't ever make it quite as good as she did but, i think i am getting pretty close.

this weekend has been really nice. i stayed in bed all day yesterday, and i plan on doing the same today.

i am so lazy. :)

i have no plans for the next four days. how wonderful is that? although, i know by sunday i'll be bored shitless :)

admittedly, i am sitting in my room watching too legit: the mc hammer story.

too.funny.for.words.

seriously, this movie has to have some of the best one liners i have heard in a really long time. the only cool thing about it is that tangi miller from felicity is portraying the hammer's wife. other than that, it's a fucking joke.

tonight i got hit by a white minivan, while leaving barnes and noble. yup, then the guy proceeded to yell at ME. like it was my fucking fault that he friggin backed into me. i was stuck. there was a car behind me and he proceeds to back the fuck into me. insanity. so, i said some really nice words to him, got his insurance info and cried. i swear, people are nuts during the holidays. it's complete insanity the way people are around this time of year. you'd think that people would be loving and caring. no, all they care about is getting the parking place closest to their final destination.

oh shit, i gots to jam. the hammer man is actually becoming a human beat box.

go dubb-ya...it's your birthday!

retrospective by the indigo girls is such a good compilation. yay!

i used to listen to them ALL the fucking time. nonstop. 24/7. kinda like dino. but not.

have you ever been to an indigo girls show before? it's quite an experience. the last time i went, i got picked up on by some really manly looking woman. she was totally cool, though. and even better? she smoked us out. nice.

anyway, in their live show, its not uncommon for them to do a cover of "midnight train to georgia". at one show, the lead singer from spearhead totally broke.it.down. it was unreal. i am still waiting for a copy of that show but, i'll most likely never get it.

my favorite indigo girls song? it's a tie between "kid fears", "watershed" and "ghost". check out the cd, would you? thanks.

yesterday's little holiday party was quite a success. i tried to explain to some people the humor in the CEO dressing up as santa and the CFO dressing up as the grinch. you see...the CFO has been preparing the budget for 2002 so, round these parts he is known as the grinch.

it was truly cute. everyone got a big laugh out of it. to be honest, the kids were more scared of santa then they were of the grinch.

so, now i have almost 24 days till the actual holiday party. i actually think everything is running rather smooth. i have a great team to work with and that makes it that much more fun. it's going to be quite the event.

now, if i only i could get john to wear a sport coat...

Tuesday, December 18, 2001

take all your big plans
and break them
this is bound to be a while
your body is a wonderland....

damn. i have missed that song. thank goodness i have a little cd player in my office now. yay for that! and yay for lisa letting me borrow hers while she is out on maternity leave. and yay for me burning a copy of room for squares so i can listen while i work.

ok, people at work have started calling me shay and it's on my last nerve. i prefer that only my closest friends call me shay. it's almost like a privilege, ya know? if you know me well, call me shay if not, call me shayna. get it? got it? good.

what up yall. jdunn comin at you. just touchin up here and there. please take note: new background color, new author color, and be sure to swing by the archive page. i made it real nice in there. makes me want to sit down on a sunday morning with a cup of coffee, listen to the pitter-patter of the rain, and just read away. OOOOOkay, back to work john.

i have bloggers block :(

sorry kids!

weekend recap...

saturday i woke up early to send out my xmas gifts for the rents and gina marie. let me just say...i thought that mailboxes etc. would have opened early because it is the holiday season. but, no. so i went to the mall to buy my mom her hanukah present and buy myself a birthday present. i ended up buying my mom a pink cashmere sweater and a dress for myself for the upcoming holiday party. it's amazing. when the big day happens, i'll be sure to take pics and put them up :)

after that, i came home to get ready for maria's dinner party. meeka and i had SO much fun. that group of people...too funny. there was one point in the night where my friend danielle was telling all the girls about her final psychology paper. she did it on female masturbation. too funny. anyway, while we were talking about her paper, the guys were in the kitchen baking space cakes. anyway, her boyfriend comes out of the kitchen and says..."now this is ironic, the guys are in the kitchen cooking and the girls are talking about masturbating." it was too funny.

we left maria's and headed to the hotel to party down. we got there and james was there. chillin with some beautiful flowers and a card. maria had packed up some of the space cakes so, meeks and i shared one when we got back to the hotel. they were damn tasty.

passed out around midnight...woke up at three when john called...

yesterday was pretty mellow. watched some tv, talked on the phone and had a really nice dinner with my family.

it was a pretty good birthday weekend. thanks everyone for your birthday wishes! they were much appreciated!

Sunday, December 16, 2001

yup, i'm 25. hmm...it feels no different than 24.

although, last year at this time i was driving from providence to philly for a dmb show. ahh...memories. :)

Saturday, December 15, 2001

last night i went to see vanilla sky with sharon.

it was really friggin weird. not weird in a bad way, weird in an interesting. for me, the best thing about cameron crowe movies is the music. and this movie did not let that down. the first song in the movie was radiohead, and that was enough to reel me in.

anyway, i don't want to give away too much about the movie but...it was for me, it was a little confusing at the beginning, but the cinematography was unreal. especially at the end of the movie.

i still can't stand tom cruise and penelope cruz? ANN.OY.ING. she is way hot, but her voice bugs. almost like she was trying too hard to have an accent.

once you see it, let's discuss, mkay?

Friday, December 14, 2001

guess what?

the dutch-ess is coming to visit. i am SO excited. :)

so, check this out...it's from when john was around six years old. i think it's the cutest thing, ever.

some of my coworkers are taking me to lunch for my birthday today. chili's here we come.

oh, and this morning, they put a HUGE ass "happy birthday" balloon on the back of my chair. it's crazy. seriously, everyone who walks by my office is like, "nice fucking balloon birthday girl." lame. as sharon says, i HATE birthday hoopla.

my mom had another incident last night. we were clearing the table at my nana's and she lost her balance and fell into the sliding glass door.

honestly, i am at a point where i don't know what to do. for the past few years i have been living with her for the purpose of helping her out and what not. but, i think it's time for me to move on. john and i have been talking about moving, but how can i when this shit keeps happening? i almost feel like i should call my sister and tell her it's time for her to take over. is that selfish? she never helps now, and all this stress is on my shoulders. i understand that shit like this happens but really, my mom is too young for her kids to need to care for her.

anyway, the rest of the party was nice. i got a really cute green purse and some money!

i'm really looking forward to this weekend. i really just need some down time right now. i almost wish i could take a vacation or something, but i can't. oh well, meeks and i are gonna have a fabulous weekend!

Thursday, December 13, 2001

i finally got a radio for my office. since lisa is going to be out for a while, she told me that i can borrow hers for a bit. such an improvement. i can't tell you how much better i work with music in the background. it's somewhat soothing.

tonight is the family hanukah party. wooo hooo. too bad i already got my gift from nana. oh well, it's worth it just to hear her complain about how i won't eat the brisket she slaved over all day. but, on the up side, we do get latkes. right the fuck on.

she's got a whole lot of reasons
she can't think of a single one that would justify a leave
and he got none but he thinks he got some...

check out jack johnson, would ya? thanks!

it's as simple as something that nobody knows
and her eyes are as big as a bubbly toes...

this is the funniest shit i have seen in a really long time. i swear, i almost peed while reading the questions.

the sad thing is i had to translate half the questions for barry. i.e. the "baby's daddy" thing. shit. my ribs hurt from laughing so fucking hard.

I am 61-80% Ghetto

I AM ghetto. And you know this- MAN.

i hate holiday cards. i never want to look at another one in my entire life.

ever. ever. ever.

Wednesday, December 12, 2001

blogger can kiss my ass. i just wrote a long blog about how i am going to become a record mogul...and now, it's gone.

fuckers. seriously, maybe when i am movticated again, i will relay everything i wrote. but now? i am fucking pissed. :)

well, the gist of it is...i used to work with this guy who started his own music label. he basically runs it out of his house. anyway, i ran into him last week and he mentioned to me that he wanted to get some more local groups signed to this label. he has one r&b act that has done fairly well in the bay area. they're called one voice. anyway, he emailed me asking me to meet up with him next week to discuss the possibility of me helping him find some other bands to check out. how dope would that be? i mean, it may not be anything. but, it just may be something.

cross your fingers for me, would ya?

i am freezing. i think i will bring my gloves and ski parka in tomorrow so that i can show everyone how fucking cold i really am in this office.

anyway, i am not really in the mood to be blogging. i'll be back, though.

Tuesday, December 11, 2001

i have been so depressed about my birthday, that i have now made my boyfriend feel guilty about not being able to come out here.

i really didn't mean for that to happen. of course i want him to be here but, i know that it's not financially possible for either of us right now.

these are the things that make it hard to have a long distance relationship. we're trying to save so that we can see each other more often yet, things come up where we want to be together. sacrificing new years eve, so that he can be here for the holiday party. it's really hard. i just wish i could go home every night and say, "hi honey, how was your day?" and have it be face to face, instead of over the phone. i wish that i could reach out in the middle of the night and have him be next to me, instead of open space. i wish that we could fight over who gets the remote control, but we can't.

it's really frustrating. and it hurts so much. have you ever cried so hard that your heart hurts? i have been having that feeling all too frequently as of late. it's sad. i miss him so much, and there's nothing i can really do about it.

things that need to be outlawed:

using dave matthews band songs in those cheesey "college dance" competitions they have on ESPN. there is NO need to use last stop. never mind the fact that it was on super high speed making it so dave sounded like he was on crack. anyway, i actually sat and watched the competition, which just proves how big of a loser i am.

hanukah last night...i got beautiful emerald earings. it's kind of cool what my mom is doing. she has all of my grandma's jewlery and she has been making pieces for my sister and myself so that we each get some nice stuff. for our 21st, she gave us an emerald ring, the earings match the ring. they are beautiful.

i still have not decided what to get her. i had picked out this limoge(it's a porcelain hand painted box, she collects them.) and the day i was going to go pick it up, she came home with the exact same one. i got really pissed because she ALWAYS goes out and buys herself shit right before the holidays. which i do, too but i try to not buy things that i KNOW people will be giving me for my bday/hanukah/xmas.

not too many plans made for the weekend. my friend maria is going to have a party saturday night, and i think meeka and i are gonna party after that. i'd have more fun with her anyway. other people will just bring us down. that's what i dig about meeks. we can just chill and hang out. no entertainment necessary, we entertain ourselves.

Monday, December 10, 2001

i would just like to say that i have the best boyfriend in the entire world.

yes, i do. do you like the new color scheme?

so, last night i was walking down stockton street in san francisco and who should walk by me but carlos santana. ok. so at first i was looking at him like, ummm i know you. he gave me the "sup" nod and proceeded up the street. at that moment, marika grabbed my hand and was like, "STOP." that was NOT carlos santana. but alas, it was. anyway.

then we get to the show. stevie nicks? has the freakiest fans i have ever seen in my life. they all dress like her in the flowy skirts and high heeled boots. they all have long hair and bangs. hilarious. anyway, more on stevie in a sec.

john mayer. now, i have complained about him a lot in the past few months but last night, he completely blew my mind. first off, when we got to the masonic, we got off on the wrong floor. we ended up on the VIP level where all these important people were. anyway, i hear singing coming from the auditorium and i run over to the gated area. what's playing? oh, john doing a soundcheck of "3x5". incredible. marika and i were so excited. singing and dancing along with him. after that, he ended his sound check and we went back to the commoners area.

go in tot he show and take a seat. ok, our seats rocked the casbah. we were SO close. john walks out on stage and shit. the boy must have raided joey mcintyre's closet from the "step by step"tour. demin jeans with tan pockets and a tan seam running down the inner thigh. NOT cute. but, oh well. he really needs a fashion consultant. the show was really good. he played my favorite, "3x5" and a bunch of other songs. really really good sound and the crowd was really into him. it was really cool. his arrogance only came out a little bit throughout the performance. so, that was a definate plus.

john ends his set and marika and i decide that we'll stay for a few stevie songs. she walked out to "bootylicious". i kid you not. it had to be the funniest thing i have seen in a long time. then all her fairy like fans start groovin to the beat. the opener? "stop draggin my heart around". sounded pretty good but the guy doing the top petty part, was like some 50 year old torn up rocker. it was hilarious. after that we motored.

really good weekend. but, i have been missing john a lot lately. i am really having a hard time with the distance. this weekend was the first time that i didn't talk to him a million times throughout the day. it was kind of weird. i had gotten so used to talking to him whenever i wanted, that i had forgotten how it feels to not talk to him all the time. this is really sucking right now. i miss him more then ever. but, i am a trooper, and i get to see him in a month! yay me!

Sunday, December 09, 2001

ok.

i officially hate mac's. i just had an entire blog and lost it.

i'm chillin at meeka's. it's fucking 7:30 in the morning and i am awake. i have no idea why. we were up til at least 1am, attempting to party like rockstars. we started drinking and whatnot at about 5, so, i think we achieved our goals. needless to say, by 11pm we were both cuddled up on the couch, watching the u2 concert that was aired on vh1 a few weeks ago.

i got here yesterday around noon, and we headed to this place called left bank. it was yummy. a nice french feel. marika had an eggplant sandwich and i had a spinach salad. then we ordered what seemed to be the best fries in the world. they were so freaking good.

after that, we headed to this place called artmosphere. it's one of those places where you go and paint something, then they fire it for you kinda dealies. it was really fun. i made a perfume tray. it's really cute.

from there, we headed to downtown walnut creek to hit the gap. why? because it's friends and family weeked at the gap and sara sent me some coupons. what did i get? two sweaters, a demin skirt and a tank top. after i bought everything, i realized that i asked for one of the sweaters for xmas. heh. oh well.

by the time we got back here, it was damn near 5pm. we decided that there was nothing else to do but drink so, we headed to this place called beverages and more. have you ever been there before? it's insane. it's like the costco of liquor stores. for real, yo. from there we went to pick up our pizza and headed back to meeka's house.

so now, i wait for sleeping beauty to awaken from her slumber so we can start today's activities. what are we doing? well, we are going into sf to hit the cheesecake factor before the big kfog show tonight. should be some good times ahead.

i don't know when you became king of my dreams
i only know that when you go, everything around me falls apart at the seams
i've never known someone so much like me
yet you're your own and parts of you remain a sweet mystery

and i am falling
falling into a dream
and you, you are calling
calling me to be your queen

all the world is a stage when you're around
everyone acting their parts but nothing is real like the love that i've found
with you my baby
and when you lift me up, there's no coming down
i get so high i could float away on a feather like a fairy crown

and i am falling
falling into a dream
you, you are calling
calling me to be your queen

the willows howl as the lazy sleep
and the lucky stars fall away as they weep...

every time i hear that song, i think of *my* prince.

christmas oreos. not too sure what to think of them.

anyway, i went over to our big conference room where a meeting had just ended and there was TONS of food there. so i grab a plate and murle says, "here, have some alcohol!" to which one of the software engineer says, "there's no way she's old enough to drink!!" i was so happy. i do look old enough to drink. if anything, he looks younger than i do.

did you know that andes makes mint patties? well, they do and they are damn tasty.

i think i have eaten enough for now.

remember how i thought i was so cool because i got a flat screen monitor? well, turns out i can't view my comments from it.

any teckies out there who can help me? email me, please. thanks.

so many things to discuss this morning. first off, i got a new monitor for my computer! it's a whopping 21 inch sony flat screen. it is BEAUTIFUL. it pays to have friends in IT.

anyway, i actually made a list of things to discuss this morning because i was afraid that i would forget something. so here we go.

i finally saw the video for "everyday" last night. very cute and very sweet. for those of you who have not seen it, you can go here and watch. i originally tried to watch it that way but without a sound card at work, and with a slow connection at home, it wasn't cutting it. the only bad part about the video is they have that fucking annoying haley eisenberg of pepsi commercial fame in it. other than that, it's really a cool video.

next, temptation island. now, all i am going to say is that out of the predictions i made, TWO out of four of them have been right, this far. anyway, the last couple that i made guesses about? they left the show early because she decided she wanted to marry him. cute, huh. so next week, a new couple will enter the island. that should be fun. much much fun.

and last, this morning i was flippin though the tube and...there was a segment on espn2 about jack johnson. it was really dope. they were showing shots of him surfing and playing live. very cool segment and most likely the first time i have watched espn without changing the channel right away.

it seems to me that john mayer will be playing solo at the kfog show this weekend. that's a bummer. not that i mind him solo, i'd just rather see him with the band. it's more energetic. some people i know prefer john bandless. i, for one, do not.

blech. he better not pull his rockstart attitude or i am going to be pissed.

when i was supposed to go to kansas city for thanksgiving, i bought john's parents some see's candy. now, when you buy the candy, most of the time it is pre wrapped. perfect for present giving, correct? no.

last night john was at his parents and he asked his mom if she had eaten any of the candy, yet. she said no. she planned on taking it to her office to share with her coworkers. then she made a comment that alluded to the fact that the chocolate was expensive. so, john asked how she knew. the proceeded to ask if *i* had left the price on the chocolate. she replied yes and was flattered that i spent so much money on them.

ok, so you all know me pretty well. i am pretty good about TAKING PRICES OFF GIFTS. i think i may have left a price tag on once. but for real, i felt so trashy. my only thought is that maybe the price is printed on the wrapped box. and his mom saw it. regardless, i feel class-less.

anyway, i have been craving a nonfat decaf gingerbread latte for days now, so on my way to work this morning i stopped at the local starbucks. i just so happen to run into an old coworker from goto. kevin, the one whose girlfriend was a dancer. remember her? anyway, we said a quick hello and he jammed outta there.

that's about all that's going on in the land of shayna right now. just sitting sipping my latte and getting psyched for the weekend. rock.stars.

DAVE MATTHEWS has recorded a cover of ANI DIFRANCO's "Joyful Girl" with
Boston-based jazz/funk/hip-hop fusionists SOULIVE, who opened a string
of dates for the DAVE MATTHEWS BAND on its recent tour. The track,
produced by GLEN BALLARD (DMB's "Everyday"), is targeted for Soulive's
forthcoming album, "Next," due March 12th.

umm, THAT is the coolest thing i have heard in a while!

i have more to say but i have to check some things in the kitchen. be back in a jiffy!

ok. something stinks in surburbia. my blog was hit 1440 times today. hello. 1440 TIMES. what the motherfucking hell?

hello family portrait!!!

more on the short tip. i bought these black pants about 2 months ago that are far too long for my legs. so, instead of being proactive and getting the shortened, i have been tucking them under like a ghetto child. i am wearing them today and they aren't staying up the way they used to. it's fairly annoying to be honest. so now, i am fairly motivated to get my pants shortened.

it's rather cold here. i have been wearing my wool coat all week. even in the office. i keep complaining about the temperature in this office and nothing has been done as of yet. tomorrow i'll come in a ski parka and gloves. maybe then they'll get the point.

it's really hard to drive with 4 inch heels on. i bought some new boots last week and the heels are massive. so massive that i had to basically drive with my big toe on the gas. classic.

and i say i'm not short.

damn, this dude's got mad skills. check out the finale, yo.

here is a PRIME example of why i have shitty friends. keep in mind, i sent most of my friends an email WEEKS ago to save the date of my birthday to go out to dinner, or something.

hey shay-
this week and weekend are pretty crazy but hopefully the following
week we could get together.
Looks as though my sis is coming back into town on the 15th so I don't know what
you had in mind for your b-day but hopefully I can meet up with you. I know my
mom is having a family chanukah party on the 16th. regardless, love to see u soon.

now do you see why i have no desire for a birthday party? that email is from sara. the one whose wedding i was in a few months back. the one who put me through hell all last year while planning that fucking wedding. ya know, it's times like these i don't even know why i bother maintaining certain friendships.

has anyone else seen commercials for this?

PA.TH.ET.IC.

who the fuck wants to watch a movie about mc hammer? didn't they learn their lesson with the def leopard movie?

vh1 should really go back to what they do best, playing videos and making new episodes of behind the music. maybe if we're lucky they'll make some good ones in the near future. actually, last night i saw a commercial for the sublime: behind the music. that looks decent. and last night, they had the aaliyah episode on. that's a freaking tear jerker for ya.

i have been having issues with my mascara lately. i purchased this new lash discovery mascara a few weeks ago and it's given me nothing but trouble. it has one of those really tiny applicators which makes it easy to miss the lash and hit your cheek, instead. honestly? it works amazingly but is a pain in the ass. i really need to try something new. i only wear mascara and powder so, the mascara is crucial to my beauty.

laugh all you want, i needed to make a pointless post.

i am pms'ing up a storm today. i hate being like this. seriously, it's the worst feeling, ever. all i want is to go home and eat a pint of ben and jerry's mint chocolate cookie and watch TLC daytime. but no, i am far too old to be pulling shenanigans like that.

last night i didn't do much. came home, took a bath, talked to robs, talked to gm and talked to john. very exciting, i know. i love such a thrilling life. other than that, there's not too much going on.

i'm getting excited for my big rockstar weekend. i still have to buy tickets for matt nathanson. although, i don't think that meeka wants to go. i think she's only going because she knows i want to go. she's a good friend like that. (heh, as i was typing this she just so happened to IM me.)

project for the day? making all the address labels for our holiday cards. i love the fact that i was blessed with this project. it's causing me more pain and agony than any other project i have ever participated in.

don't be jealous, mkay?

john's little brother, tim is getting married!!!!

oh my goodness. things are getting very interesting in these parts. why? because i just found out that there will be a SECOND season of the real world starting on january 15th.

for those of you who don't know...usually there's one season, from june-ish to december-ish. then they re-air all shows right after. this year? they're doing TWO seasons. oh my god. words cannot express how excited i am about this. where is it filmed you ask? CHI-town.

word to that.

in other news, i hate my mother. she PROMISED me a big birthday party this year since i did not get one for my 21st. guess what she told me last night? sorry, no party. i was thinking i'd take you to conner and burke's. ok, first of all, conner and burke's is a motherfucking steak resturant. i don't eat steak. second of all, it's my birthday, shouldn't i be able to choose where i want to go? yeah, that's what i though. i know i said i didn't want a birthday party, but i should at LEAST be able to pick the resturant we go to for my birthday dinner.

can you tell i am pissed?

the thing is, she says i am jealous of my sister. ok, for her 21st birthday, she got a NEW FUCKING CAR. and a phat birthday party where my dad rented her a hotel room and paid for her and her friends to go out all night. whatever. what did i get for my 21st? a dinner at the elephant bar and a blue topaz necklace. now, don't get me wrong i am not ungrateful, i just feel like there should be some sense of fair in this family. seriously, it makes me feel like shit.

the best birth control is hanging out with 2 kids under the age of five for 24 hours.

yup, i'm good to go for the next few years.

anyway, the weekend was good. hung out, ATE tons and tons, watched the real world marathon and chilled. i totally miss that girl more than anything.

while watching the real world marathon, we decided that nicole was a man. she had the nip and tuck operation. do you agree?

off to finish wrapping holiday gifts!
