since i’ve been kind of down lately, I decided to copy heather’s idea and make a list of things that make me happy:

john – when he tells me i am beautiful, even when i look like crap; my animals who abuse me and pee everywhere; my brother, michael when he plays the “quiet” game; matchmaking – when it works ;); old navy yoga pants; my girlfriends; scotty price; the opening moment at a dmb show when the lights go down, the crowd is roaring and out of the corner of my eye, i see the guys come out on stage; long car rides with john, where we talk about anything and everything; cuddle bunnies; landon; canteen green nissan xterras; venti-nonfat-decaf-no whip-toffee nut lattes; people magazine; wedding pictures; sushi sams; kiehl’s lip balm; shopping at north park mall in dallas with heather; sitting in a room with gina/marika/robbi and laughing about absolutely nothing; newlyweds; benefit’s dandelion; jersey knit sheets; hot baths in big bath tubs; my job (most days); root beer floats from sonic; my ku sweatshirt; john mayer shows from 2001; hot pink reef flip flops; baby’s butt pedicures; planning summer “tour”.

we finally made it down to visit the baby on saturday. he's so cute! such long legs and long arms! maybe he'll be a ku bball player? knowing tim, it'll be ksate.

anyway, we took oliver down with us because we didn't want to leave him locked up. he was really good the whole time! even stood up on his back legs to look into the cradle when landon was sleeping. it was really cute! he was so curious! smelling his eyes and ears. landon kept putting his hands up against his face to shoo off the dog. hilarious.

that's until *someone* felt as though he was getting no attention and decided to pee on the carpet. now, i'm beginning to think he may need to go to a pet therapist. he really needs to resolve these jealousy issues. maybe we should get another dog so that he can learn how to share.

if you want to see pictures, hit me up. it's definitely worth it. :)

is it friday, yet?

the past few days have been insane. work is so chaotic, i hardly have time to do my day to day tasks. i can't even begin to think about everything i am behind on. ugh. this whole survey thing just may drive me nuts.

for those of you who don't know, my hospital is going through a major survey in july. basically, what happens is that surveyors come out and review everything in the hospital from policies to equipment usage. i can't even begin to explain the preparation that goes into this sort of event. all i can say, is that my department is responsible for so many of the little details that will effect our scoring. it's stressful!

hmmm...what else is new? oliver peed on our bed on saturday night forcing me to go the laundromat for the first time in my life ALONE because my betrothed couldn't be bothered to leave the couch during march madness. the nerve. it's ok, he's repented for his sins. back to the actual peeing incident. john was giving me a back massage, and i think oliver was jealous so he hopped right up on the bed and peed on the bedspread. can you believe that shit? he's never peed on the bed and hasn't gone to the bathroom inside the house in almost a year. he's just so cute. i can't stay mad at him. shit monkey.

how excited am i for the e! true hollywood story of nsync?

too excited for words, really.

sunday, hurry up and get here!!!

listening to:
the tv...john's watching full house. pa.th.et.ic

i'm feeling much better today, thanks for asking!

once again, our apartment has turned into a sports bar. john is sitting on the couch with oliver hooting and hollering at the ku game. admittedly, i will occasionally get into the game and hoot and holler, as well. however today, i am not so much in the mood for hooting and hollering. more in the mood for a nap.

last night we had dinner at the in-law's house. john's grandparents were in town for the weekend and "very anxious" to see us. i decided i would make dessert since ruthanne hadn't prepared any. after searching numerous cook books, i decided on rice pudding. john's grandmother is gluten intolerant, so it seemed to fit the criteria. i was so excited to make something that i knew would please everyone. unfortunately, three hours after i begun the cooking process, the rice was still crunchy. damn generic rice.

do you ever feel like you just can't succeed at certain things? like, whenever i am at john's parent's house, i can't ever cook nearly as well as i can at my house. i don't know if it's because i have an audience, or because i get criticism on how things should be done every second. regardless, it's really draining to try and cook with an audience.

but, the good news of the weekend is that robbi is coming to visit in a few weeks! root. i suggested that we go out on the plaza when she's here. i meant go out for dinner, i guess she thought i meant out, out. that shows our age difference. i don't even know the last time i went out. what ever out means, it will be good times.

the thing about march madness is that i never get the tv.

last night, i was trying to watch the apprentice and was interupted by my husband who insisted on turning our bedroom into a sports bar. hooting and hollering all around. so annoying. however, after a few minutes of hell - we made a compromise.

i had the most amusing dream last night.

i dreamt that john and i were at this incredible hotel in san francisco overlooking all of the bay area. it was incredibly romantic and seemed so realistic.

i've noticed that with every anti-anxiety medication i take, there's a new set of dreams. with one it was all familial, with another it was suspenseful, with this new one - it's all romance.

ANYWAY. we're at this hotel and it's so incredible. it's got one huge bath tub and a jacuzzi on the patio. the linens are all a crisp white and all of the attendants in the hotel know us, as if we're living at the hotel. it was SO interesting.

maybe i should buy a book on dream analysis. i think it would be interesting to find out what all of these dreams mean - or if it's just a side effect to the meds. (probably the latter.) regardless, i did NOT want to wake up this morning.

so many exciting things happened this weekend!

first and foremost, susan and tim's baby was born on friday evening at 8pm.

landon joseph dunn weighed in at 7 lbs 6 oz and a whopping 20.5 inches! i cannot wait to see him!!!!! i am hoping we'll go down this weekend for some baby time!!!

as for everything else, the dallas trip was very relaxing. i got to spend some quality time with the rents before they left for their cruise on saturday morning. i also got to spend some quality time with robs, whom i hardly ever see! sadly, i didn't have access to a car to see heather, which totally bummed me out! i was really looking forward to lunch at the galleria and some shopping...

sadly, it looks as though the only show i will be attending this summer will be sandstone since my debit card had no money on it when the warehouse ran credit checks last weekend. oh, well!

and the other thing? well, it's not really my place to say anything. all i can say is that it's the best thing to happen in a long time :)

now, zip it, lock it, put it in your pocket. (michael's new favorite saying.)

Wednesday, March 10, 2004

we're heading down to dallas today for the big 12 basketball tournament. the boys aren't even sure if they can get tickets - but, i guess that being in the same town as the games, makes it all worth while.

what am i going to do in dallas?

get a massage
hang out with robbi
have lunch with heather
shop!

have a great week/weekend!

Saturday, March 06, 2004

john created a mix today called, the happy mix. however, i do not find it to be so happy.

so, i've retaliated with...the happiest mix.

track one? smash by the murmurs. it's the best rock out in your car kind of song. well, next to let's groove tonight. which, coincidently, is track number five.

what's your favorite rock out song?

i know you'll all be sad to hear that scotty and i have broken up. (scotty the hair dresser.)

i was SO excited to get my hair cut and colored today and bam, for the second time in a row, he unexpectedly cancelled my appointment. last time he had car trouble, this time he had a house emergency. i can't deal with the inconsistencies!! so, saturday, i am going to lana. hopefully she will make our break up a little less painful...

Tuesday, March 02, 2004

i’ve started reading this book. it’s really interesting, actually. i’m gaining all of this interesting information regarding to married life and what to expect throughout this first year. some may think i am insane for actually buying a book like this - but in all honesty, it’s made me feel normal for some of the things that i have been feeling/experiencing.

also, i think i have decided to cut all my hair off. remember when my hair was super short? i think it was the summer of 2000. i am tired of always wearing my hair in a ponytail and think that cutting it off would be a great way to add some pizzazz to my look.

thoughts? comments? concerns?
