the best thing about john calling me when he got back from his bachelor party? i was awake to see the new sarah mclachlan video. it's interesting. i can't wait to hear the album.

i probably won't be posting much this week. we've begun the final countdown. 6 days and counting.

WHAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT?

i freaked OUT. don't think i am a snob. well, i am. but, hopefully *someone* will understand where i am coming from.

did bob seriously give lee ann a rose? she sucks. seriously. she's got a major stick up her butt.

personally, i am rooting for meredith. john on the other hand is in love with kelly jo.

in other news, i am completely in love with split screen sadness by john mayer.

i love it how everyone refers to our wedding as the wedding.

like it's some huge event, or something...

i didn't think it was possible to love justin timberlake any more than i already did.

and then, i watched snl.

Saturday, October 11, 2003

i spent 7 hours shopping with john's mom, today.

actually, it wasn't too bad. we picked out the fabric for the ring bearers pillows, found her some shoes and a purse for the wedding, bought some trinkets for rachel's maid of honor present and went to sam's club.

OH. and i applied for a holiday job at bath and body works. just to make some extra cash throughout the holiday season. i have an interview on monday at six. i'd really like to get a part time job so that we can save AND get people nice gifts, too. don't worry. john will probably get one, too.

to elaborate more on my previous post...

john and i have been engaged for almost a year. it took us almost a week to set a date, moved it up a week and stuck to it.

basically, what i am trying to say is that i think it's super shitty that people have known about our wedding for nearly one year, have flaked on a promise. a promise to attend the biggest day of our lives.

maybe there's a difference between my promises and other's. when i make a promise to do something, i do it. i would never in a million years PROMISE someone that i would be somewhere if i knew, ultimately it may not happen. i would only promise if i knew that no matter what, i would be able to fulfill that promise. making sense so far? good.

now, some of you may read this and say "oh, she's over reacting", "maybe she misunderstood what so and so said", "things come up", etc. bottom line, don't make promises you can't keep. ESPECIALLY if right after you tell me you're not coming to the wedding you start to ramble about all of the dave shows your going to. seriously, go away. if dave is more important to you than a friendship, MY friendship, i don't want your "friendship" anyway.

quite a few people have disappointed me in the past week. people whom i considered to be good friends. people whom i kept on our invite list while others got cut because i *thought* their word meant something. but this is where it ends. i am not going to let it upset me anymore because i DO have incredible friends. friends who are traveling from the NETHERLANDS, california, minnesota, utah, missouri, kansas, and so on.

ANYWAY.

less than 4 weeks.

holy shit.

it's interesting when you realize who you're real friends are.

trauma-rama.

yesterday, we left work early to go get my car registered in kansas. i know what you're all thinking..."ok, you've been living there for a year, slacker." well, i had already received my renewal for california when i first moved here, so being the lazy brat i am, i just renewed in california and decided to wait it out until this year to register in kansas.

ANYWAY. we got to the county treasurer office at 3:15. the inspection office closes at 3:30. if you're not there by 3:20, they won't check out your car. so, i am already frazzled from being what i think is "late" and john is being way too calm for me. we pass 50 parking places, and park all the way to the right of the entrance. by now, i am PISSED. i mean, it's pouring rain, i am stressed AND now i have to walk in the down pour. after we park, i notice the khp (kansas highway patrol) officer coming towards my car and i begin to understand. you see, in california, you take your car elsewhere for it's inspection and bring the paperwork to the dmv - this whole kansas thing is weird to me.

the khp officer checks out the car, gives us the paperwork we need and we dart into the office. we get to the title registration office and i realize that between the car and the office, i have dropped the paperwork that the khp officer had filled out - so, john runs out into the rain to find my inspection forms. returns in what seems to have been 20 minutes and the thing is SOAKED. i then blurt out - "i need a xanax!" which was not the best thing to say around the khp, but, whatever. we pay our inspection fee and move on to the "license plate" line. WHAT? a license plate line? in california, you register your car and they send you your plates a few weeks later. i am telling you. backwards folks, here.

moral of the story? my car now has kansas plates. it's really traumatic.
