i just qualified to win a trip to the dmb show in san francisco.

what's that? i'm already going?

yeah, i am. BUT we're trying to win scotty tickets and john's already qualified and now i am! the conversation went a little something like this, hit it!

i'm on the phone with my mother-in-law and hear jimi thing in the background...basically hang up on ruthanne and call the planet which is the best radio station, ever. despite the fact that they refer to dmb as dave...

me: ok! YES!!!!
(two minute delay)
chris phoenix:ok - who's this?
me: shayna! OH MY GOSH, I AM SO EXCITED!!!
cp: (laughs) have you been trying to win?
me: yes! i've been trying, my husband's been trying, my friends have been trying...I AM SO PUMPED.
cp: can you hold?
(one minute hold, while on hold i hear myself being a LOSER on the air...)
cp: alright, spell your name.
me: s h a y n a d u n n
cp: are you related to john dunn?
me: yes, he's my husband, why?
cp: he's already qualified (pause) but you can qualify, too.
me: that jerk! he didn't tell me he qualified! i am going to kick his butt!
cp: (laughs) alright, i just need your birthdate
me: 12/16/76
cp: you're 27, too?
me: yes!!!!
cp: blabs something but i am way too excited to pay attention, resulting in me having to call back and find out where and when the drawing is...
cp: what's the best radio station in kansas city?
me: 97.3 the planet!

after my exciting conversation, i call scotty who is the only person i know of that should be listening. apparently, i was wrong. he was AWAY from his desk and missed it! jerk face. but he's siked none the less because he wins, too if all this goes through.

back to work!

i can't believe that i am actually excited to go back. i am such a loser!!!

2.5 weeks til sf! yay!

oh my goodness.

that show was unreal. seriously? incredible. i think going to one or two shows per tour makes you appreciate the shows you're at. SO INCREDIBLE.

ok, more later. i must get back to the couch and TLC daytime.

i can't remember the last time i was home alone on a friday night...

john and scotty are at the bela fleck and the flecktones show. for some reason, i had no interest in going so, i stayed home and made robbi her birthday cake. i've finished the cake, now i just need to ice it. i'll probably wait on that until sunday night or monday. it's red velvet. the first time i've made it and, it'll be my first time eating it. i hope it turns out ok!

this weekend should be pretty hectic. tomorrow we're going to pick up our couch, chair and ottoman. tomorrow night we have a 60th birthday party to go to (john's parent's best friends. we definitely will not be staying long; can't miss another episode of big brother. i am so out of the loop on that show! sunday we're hitting worlds of fun with scotty and robs. sunday night jenkins and ruck arrive with the wedding dvd which we will be watching that night. and finally, monday is dmb. pedicures with robs in the morning and cooking a bit in the afternoon. after monday...i'm on vacation. four days without work. i am SO excited for a break. it will be wonderful to take some time off where there's no wedding planning, no painting, no house stuff - just pure relaxation.

have i mentioned how excited i am for dmb? AHHHHHHHHHHH. i can't believe it's already here. the summer has flown by. and knowing we have one more show after this, makes me appreciate it so much more. remember when i'd hit 10-15 shows a summer? yeah, me too. the weird thing is that i don't really miss those days. i miss the get togethers. there just doesn't seem to be any time where ALL of my friends are together at the same show. golden gate park will be the closest thing for us, this summer. next summer we've vowed to go to at least one weekend run. we'll see if that happens.

canoeing was such a great time. not only was it nice to get away from the city life, it was a great way to relax.

although, we did tip a few times. the tipping is pretty funny when it happens. the first tip was a little dramatic. john gets all upset when he tips because he's an eagle scout! they were born to canoe! however, the second time was hilarious because it was his fault and not mine. :)

there was a bit of family drama, but did you really think there wouldn't be?

and now, i wait for friday when i begin my week off. dmb on monday, resting tuesday, possibly painting on wednesday, shopping for home decor on thursday and maybe heading to lawrence on friday...sheesh! lots of busy work for a vacation...
