i watched a great movie last night. it's called the bread my sweet. check it out if you have some free time.

life's zooming by, right now. we're packing everything up and cleaning up the apartment, which is an incredible feeling. i am so ready to get out and live in a HOUSE. it will be so nice to have our own space and not have to deal with other people living in such close quarters.

not too much planned for the weekend. john is going to watch the game tonight, while i shop for things for the house. my adorable nephew and his parents are going to be in town all weekend - so, i will be spending lots of time ohhing and ahhing over him. i can't wait to see how much he's changed in the past two months! i can't believe he's nearly three months old!!!!!


other than that, i am going to relax. like frankie. but better.

alison and blake got engaged! i am so excited for them! alison is one of my oldest friends and i set her up with blake when she moved to la four and a half years ago. i really thought they'd never get married and just be like goldie hawn and kurt russell and live together forever without getting married - but i was wrong! it's so exciting and you can hear the happiness in alison's voice. i am so incredibly happy for the both of them.

of course, the story about the proposal is classic. earlier in the day, i was talking to her and she was going on and on about how she didn't want to go out because she had a huge zit on her face. alison is totally that type. i remember several days of high school that she missed due to redness on her face from a facial.

ANYWAY blake's friend is part owner in dolce, a hoity toity restaurant in LA. (one of the other owners? ashton kutcher.) blake is told ahead of time that justin timberlake (yes, my beloved jt) is going to be sitting in the booth next to him, so blake KNOWS he has to propose before jt gets there. why? because, who on earth would pay attention to anything with jt sitting next to them. so, he proposes, she says yes, and they leave before jt arrives. sad they missed him, happy they're engaged.

so...i am just thrilled. john will be taking his very first trip to la. heh. that'll be interesting, for sure.

it's nine months away. good thing alison plans events for a living.

ahhh, alone in the office. definitely has it's advantages. first, it's quiet - so i can get tons of work done. the disadvantage is that there's no one to chat with. makes the day go by slow.

the slow day gives me time to think about everything i need (read: want) to buy before we move into the house.) so, i will post my list here italics represent things i should be able to get before the move.

- floor mat for the entrance to the house from the garage
- floor mat for under the sink
- drawer and cabinet organizers
- soap dispensers
- dishtowels
- hot pads that match the mat, soap dispenser and dishtowels
- refrigerator
- a couch, lounge chair, book shelves and coffee table for the family room
- dining room table, chest and china cabinet
- china protectors
- prints for the walls in the dining room
- a curio (sp) cabinet for my collectibles (i don't have many, but i -love the look of curios.
- something for the walls in the landing
- comforter set for the 2nd bedroom
- computer desk and chair
- bedroom set for the master bedroom (headboard, cabinet, side tables)
- shelves for the closet in the master bedroom
- new towels, etc for the master bathroom (it has glass shower doors)
- new vacuum
- carpet steamer

that's not too much, right? i know this is all wishful thinking, but at least i have list to organize everything!!!!

adventures in home buying.

yup, last night we had our very first inspection. the pest inspection. it went really well. no sign of any pests. yay!

however, after the inspector left, we went upstairs to check something. when i walked into the master bedroom, john and mary (our agent) were staring at the bed. on it? a decapitated mouse! apparently, the owner's cat likes to kill animals and bring them into the house. are you kidding me? a few days ago it brought in a baby bird. last week? a bunny.

so...i said we're not going forward unless the carpets are professionally cleaned before we move in. there's no way in the world i am going to have my animals exposed to all kinds of animal parts.

ugh. and, i am sure this is just the beginning.

we bought a house!!

the great thing about mother's day is that it gives you a chance to focus on your mom and give her your utmost attention for one entire day. it's weird when you "join" another family and see how different traditions are. for instance, for as long as i can remember, i'd make my mom breakfast, go shopping and have dinner with my whole family. in john's family, it's basically up to the boys to make the plans. this year, i took charge. call me controlling - but i wanted my mother-in-law to have a nice, relaxed mother's day.

SO...i make reservations at this nice country club (instead of the bbq place john wanted take her to) and arrange for the local sons to participate. needless to say, the bill was more than some anticipated and as usual, john and i take the bulk of the bill. i am so tired of that. i am so tired of everyone in john's family thinking we have more money than we do. it's such bs. HI. we're trying to buy a house so please stiff us out of money for YOUR mother's brunch.

anyway...

who's the biggest loser, ever? it's me! it's me!

i was listening to my boys on the planet this morning and they were discussing the friends finale. some chick called in and asked what happend to emma and why she wasn't in any of the episode. so, i call in to tell her that she was with rachel's mother, flying to paris the next day...and then...the dj's asked if i cried. i had to confess that i was bawling. they gave me a hard time and then told me, "it's only a show - they're not real people".

however, i don't think anyone i know heard it. i'll let you know if anything changes...

john woke me up to brad paisley and john mayer singing a duet of "why georgia" this morning.

it was actually really good and i can't wait until july 27th.

i am such a sucker for him. (no pun intended, of course.)

so, i totally bought bare minerals. i've seen the infomercial so many times, i think it's brainwashed me.
